Former Little League World Series star, Mo’ne Davis, and Savannah Bananas outfielder, Kelsie Whitmore, will join the more than 600 players registered for the WPBL draft. The Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to break the story about Davis.
Mo’ne Davis
Davis rose to fame in 2014 when, at 13 years old, she became the first girl to pitch her way to a win in the Little League World Series. She went on to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, was named Sports Kid of the Year by Sports Illustrated Kids, and has a jersey displayed in the baseball Hall of Fame.
Since her Little League days, she has graduated from Hampton University in 2023 and worked as a commentator for Little League games on ESPN. She plans to tryout at pitcher, shortstop, second base, and centerfield.
Kelsie Whitmore

Kelsie Whitmore was the first woman to sign a professional contract with an MLB-partnered league. In addition to pitching and playing the outfield for the Savannah Bananas, she was on the United States women’s national baseball team from 2014 to 2019.
She also played college softball at Cal State Fullerton and played professionally for the Sonoma Stompers, Staten Island FerryHawks, and the Oakland Ballers. Whitmore has said she is aiming for the top spot in the inaugural WPBL draft.
The tryouts will take place at the home of the Washington Nationals MLB team on August 22-25, 2025. Good luck!
